bought jjk manga in EXTREMELY GOOD CONDITION with fresh pages (the smell) but the cover was a bit damaged (probably a few customers not taking care of the book properly which isnt the stores fault). this store is impressive in both visual looks and reading experiences. the books are laid out perfectly with precision and the books that they choose are good as well. i bought volume 7,9 and 10 of jjk from here. staff are friendly and always ready to help. also, if an item is out of stock (especially manga) u can just wait a day and itll be on stock which is why i love this store. definitely recommend. (ps: get the food near this place)

If you're looking for a rare or hard-to-find book, I highly recommend Kinokuniya Sydney. The staff are incredibly helpful and will genuinely make an effort to look up books and assist with special requests, even when the title is difficult to find. The range of books, stationery, and accessories is excellent, and it's easy to spend hours browsing through the store. The staff are always friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. What I found especially refreshing was seeing so many people still enjoying and purchasing physical books. We often think everyone has moved to digital reading, but there is something timeless and special about holding a real book in your hands. A staff member mentioned that the store was extremely busy during the Christmas period, which was wonderful to hear. For book lovers, Kinokuniya is more than just a bookstore—it's a place to explore, discover, and be inspired. Physical books may be classic, but they remain as wonderful as ever. 📚✨

The best book store around. A great selection of Manga and other variety books. Can spend quite sometime just browsing at the books. There a little sitting area you can sit at and enjoy a beverage.

Kinokuniya is one of Sydney’s finest bookshops and a rare example of a truly world-class bookstore. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The range is outstanding, the space is calm and generous, and it remains a place where books, and readers, are taken seriously. The breadth and depth of the collection is exceptional, spanning literature and history through to architecture, design, transport, art, and international titles that are often impossible to find elsewhere. There are hidden treasures everywhere! The curation rewards curiosity and supports both casual browsing and deep, specialist interests. The store itself is beautifully laid out and encourages unhurried discovery. Serious readers, professionals, students, and families coexist comfortably, and the staff are knowledgeable without being intrusive. In an era where many bookshops have been reduced to novelty retail, Kinokuniya stands apart as a cultural anchor - somewhere you go not just to buy a book, but to spend time. There is even a cafe, to allow you to take a moment, with your new purchase. 👌

Pleasant experience here today. Im thrill to see so many new authors/books here. Crime and thrillers section’s such a blast. The bookstore is well organized, very crowded but everyone’s polite and seem to be very well invested in their time here. Nice staffs.

Brilliant bookstore!! Probably one of the best ones in Aus, let alone Sydney! A famous Japanese bookstore now here in Australia. I've been to their stores in Japan. Such an extensive array of all sorts of genres and a massive manga section; Art books; Japanese stationery; and Books in Japanese & Chinese language. Really good 'learning Japanese language' section too! So much time spent browsing & I bought quite a few books! Will be making a bee-line here for future trips to Sydney.

The most extensive book store I've ever had the pleasure of going in to. The sections/ genres are easily labelled and well laid out. They carry books from all genres and some i hadn't even considered or knew existed! There's an information counter and they can look up any book or author and are more than happy to order books in for you. The staff are all so knowledgeable and happy to help. Kinokuniya also have a membership on offer for only $15 and this gives you 10% off which is great considering my daughters and I spent well over $900 on our visit 🤪 Great range, great service and great value for money! Now I just need to build more shelving in my home library 😉

As an avid book lover (and bookstore lover) I had bookmarked a LOT of bookshops to visit on our 3.5 week try to Australia. We went to over 20 shops between Sydney and Airlie Beach during our road trip and this was by FAR the best shop we went in in Australia, and honestly, one of my favourite bookshops I've been to, period. The selection is extraordinary, the organization is great. There are sections with great staff recommendations, highlighting Australian writers, promoting unique reads, and more author signed editions than I have ever seen in a bookshop, anywhere. I came here twice on my 3 days in Sydney, because I loved it so much. I can guarantee that when I return to Sydney, I 100% will return here, and I recommend anyone visiting or local to make sure this bookshop is on your list. It's a book lovers dream.
